The Director of Communications is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Director of Communications plays a key role in elevating company culture by engaging, aligning, and inspiring colleagues with the company mission, vision, and business strategies. S/he builds and optimizes the current internal communications framework, drives message consistency and discipline, and aligns all content from the executive suite to frontline team members. S/he is also responsible for developing cohesive communication plans to support and align with organizational strategy, including identifying stakeholders, drafting communication, and managing deadlines. Position Specific Responsibilities include creating and driving an efficient, focused, and message-driven internal communications program that aligns with Compassus’ culture and brand and with external communications messages; leading the implementation of the company's external position and managing thought leadership opportunities for leaders through various vehicles; managing media relations for the corporate office and supporting local field media relations; developing and ensuring quality control of content across all platforms; collaborating with leadership and team members to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions; possessing an in-depth understanding of the primary audiences Compassus seeks to influence and developing key messages; creating compelling messages that provide team members at all levels with a clear line of sight to business strategy; ensuring organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated; ensuring consistency and alignment of internal communication messages; managing the company’s internal communications channels; developing cohesive communications plans; supporting crisis management and communications activities; managing communication vendor relationships; establishing and tracking metrics correlating internal communications programs to productivity and performance; supporting company engagement programs; and performing other duties as assigned. Education and Experience required include a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations; at least five years of experience in internal and external communications; project management experience preferred; and demonstrated ability to identify and analyze business and audience needs. Skills required include mathematical skills, language skills, and other abilities such as excellent verbal and written communication, journalistic writing style, public relations strategy, and sound business judgment. Physical demands include regular standing, walking, manual dexterity, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
