Mattax Neu Prater Eye Center is seeking a full-time Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. This individual must have the ability to multi-task, extremely accurate with strong organizational skills. They should also be able to work well with a team or independently. Customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with Billing Manager, co-workers, providers, and patients will be required to perform the job successfully. Previous experience in the medical field with billing experience required . Knowledge of Medicare criteria and medical coding is preferred. This hybrid position will work remotely for 2 days and 3 days in the office. The first six months will be training in the office. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include :

Charge Poster:

• Post clinic charges for all locations.
• Post hospital charges – ER, Inpatient and Outpatient.
• Post optical charges.
• Organize and bill electronic Medicare and EDI claims.
• Analyze Medicare and EDI reports the next day for claims correction.
• Re-bill rejected insurance claims.
• Generate monthly AR report for all accounts 30, 60, and 90 days.
• Audit patient statements.
• Work delinquent accounts for self-pay.
• Work denials for commercial and agency payors.
• Work patient and insurance overpayments-refunds.
• Check eligibility, benefits, deductible, co-insurance, etc.
• Run Daily close.
• Take patient phone calls.
• Attend educational meetings.
• Additional duties as assigned.

AR Specialist:

• Work denied claims through Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial plans.
• Identify denial trends and communicate with supervisor.
• Manage delinquent accounts.
• Audit patient statements.
• Work delinquent accounts for self-pay.
• Work patient and insurance overpayments-refunds.
• Check eligibility, benefits, deductible, co-insurance, etc.
• Run Daily close.
• Take patient phone calls.
• Attend educational meetings.
• Other projects as assigned.

Requirements include:

• One year’s minimum experience in medical office; billing and collections experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent follow-up skills.
• Management of multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work as a team.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
