Overview Sinai Hospital is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to join our Medical Oncology team. This full-time position plays a crucial role in supporting the physician office practice and delivering top-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient office environment.
Key Responsibilities - Perform clerical duties to support physician office operations.
- Obtain pre-certification from health care insurers or managed care providers for various treatment modalities.
- Assist with chart preparation, ensuring that test results, documents, and forms are current, organized, and complete before patient visits.
- Attach and file lab reports, imaging reports, operative and pathology reports, and discharge summaries after physician review.
- Reconcile lab results, ensuring all reports are received and reviewed by the physician promptly.
- Handle phone/fax prescription requests as directed by the physician.
- Schedule patient appointments and perform registration and check-in/check-out functions.
- Verify insurance eligibility, ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, and enter charges accurately.
- Order and maintain medical supplies for the office, ensuring an adequate inventory to avoid disruption of care.
- Assist with clinical duties, including preparing rooms, assisting the physician during exams, and ensuring all instruments and supplies are available and not expired.
- Record patient health history, vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, weight, height, and temperature), and assist with patient exams.
- Prepare treatment rooms and assist with specimen collection and pathology requisitions.
Requirements - Medical Assistant Certification (required)
- American Heart Association BLS Certification (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and staff.
